The following is a brief definition of microlearning and a description of how a workplace training experience I created adheres to the definition.

Microlearning can be characterized by a brief time commitment, small chunks of information, minimal effort, and a concise collection of topics, but it is complex overall (Mery, 2022). As part of my master's course in Instructional Design & Technology, I have created a small microlearning lesson regarding the creation of SMART goals in the corporate setting. As part of the assignment, we were to create a training plan that can be viewed at this link:

The actual training below abides by the definition above by adhering to the "rules" of the definition. This microlearning is less than five minutes overall, sticking to a brief time commitment. It provides small chunks of information specific to the definitions behind the SMART acronym. The effort expected to complete the microlearning is minimal. Learners must simply launch the lesson from the provided link and navigate through very few "clicks" to absorb the content. The content is concise and is limited to the SMART goal definition to help learners construct their goals for the corporate goal-setting period. This particular lesson could easily be part of a broader course that helps learners understand SMART goals, helps them communicate the goals to their leadership, and helps them enter the goals into the corporate system (Workday) that captures and measures the goal completion for senior leadership. Please review the Microlearning Training Plan above (orange button) and launch the actual Microlearning lesson from the purple link below.
